Thallus epilithic, continuous to sparingly rimose, medium grey-green to dark green, matt, smooth, 20–40 µm thick, filmy and ±gelatinous when wet, ecorticate; prothallus not apparent. Algae Trentepohlia; cells 7–15 × 7–12 µm. Perithecia almost superficial, hemispherical to subglobose, 0.2–0.33 mm diam., black, not overgrown by the thallus; apex rounded or somewhat flattened; ostiole inconspicuous. Involucrellum purplish black in thin section, contiguous with the exciple, extending to exciple base level and frequently incurved, 40–60 µm thick, not containing algae, K+ reddish. Exciple 18–28 µm thick, purple-black. Centrum 0.15–0.21 mm wide. Asci elongate-cylindrical or narrowly obclavate, 103–123 × 14–18 µm. Ascospores fusiform to elongate-fusiform, 7–9 (–11)-septate, 26–47 × 5.5–8 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia c. one-third immersed, 70–100 µm diam., black. Conidia not seen. | ||
Known from the type locality in eastern N.S.W.; grows on deeply shaded aluminium-rich rock. Also in Lord Howe Is. | ||
