| Thallus epilithic, continuous to rimose, dark green to greenish black, matt, smooth, 30–100 µm thick, ecorticate, with or without a discontinuous black basal layer; prothallus not apparent. Algae Trentepohlia; cells 10–22 × 9–18 µm. Perithecia superficial, subglobose, 0.46–0.66 mm diam., dull greenish black; apex usually rounded, otherwise plane, concave or papillate; ostiole inconspicuous or in a 40–80 µm wide depression. Involucrellum uniformly dark in thin section or with progressively paler inner layers, contiguous with the exciple, extending to exciple base level, 60–90 µm thick, not containing algae, K+ reddish brown. Exciple 30–40 µm thick, pale to dark olive-brown. Centrum 0.3–0.48 mm wide. Asci elongate-cylindrical, 129–147 × 9–13 µm. Ascospores fusiform to elongate-fusiform or elongate-cylindrical, (5–) 7 (–9)-septate, 30–50 × 3.5–6.5 µm; perispore 1–2.5 µm thick, or not apparent. Pycnidia semi-immersed to superficial, 0.1–0.2 mm diam., black. Conidia bacilliform to elongate-fusiform, 3–7 × 0.8 µm. |
