| Squamae closely appressed, scattered or contiguous, not imbricate, smooth, matt, pale to dark grey-brown, 1–4 mm wide, 0.15–0.25 mm thick, at first plane, patchily grey-pruinose and ±entire, becoming concave, epruinose and shallowly to deeply lobate; lower surface whitish to pale brown, attached by concolorous rhizohyphae and rudimentary rhizines. Perithecia immersed, 5–25 (–35) per squama; apex plane to convex, dark brown to black, 0.1–0.2 mm diam.; ostiole inconspicuous. Exciple 15–25 µm thick, brown-black. Centrum 0.2–0.35 mm wide. Periphyses 30–40 µm long. Asci 2-spored, 70–90 × 20–28 µm. Ascospores broadly ellipsoidal to subcylindrical, 29–44 × 14–23 µm, colourless to medium brown. |  |
