| Squamae usually appressed, scattered or contiguous, rounded to irregular, entire or lobate, usually plane, or with slightly raised margins, rarely convex or undulate, pale to dark brown, 2–7 mm wide, 0.2–0.45 mm thick. Lower surface pale to blackish, anchored by hyaline rhizohyphae, lacking rhizines. Perithecia to 0.65 mm diam. Exciple hyaline to pale yellowish brown, blackish near the ostiole. Periphyses 30–40 µm long. Asci 70–90 × 10–15 µm. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 12–16 × 5.5–7.5 µm. Pycnidia laminal, immersed, appearing as black dots. Conidia oblong-ellipsoidal, 3–5 µm long. |  |

| Occurs in W.A., N.T., S.A., N.S.W., Vic. and Tas.; grows on soil and humus. A cosmopolitan species in all continents apart from Antarctica. | ||
