Thallus granular, diffuse, matt, uneven, pale grey to pale grey-green, 30-60 µm thick, ecorticate; prothallus not apparent. Perithecia semi-immersed to superficial and attenuated at the base, 0.42–0.65 mm diam., dull black, obpyriform, with a minutely uneven surface; apex usually somewhat flattened. Involucrellum absent. Exciple 40–70 µm thick at the base and sides, 60–90 µm thick near the apex, brown-black in its outer half, paler within. Centrum 0.25–0.45 mm wide. Periphyses 30–70 µm long. Asci 8-spored, 90–125 × 35–45 µm. Ascospores submuriform, with 6–9 transverse septa and each transverse loculus with (0–) 1 (–2) longitudinal septa, broadly ellipsoidal to elongate-ellipsoidal or broadly fusiform, 30–56 × 13–22 µm, pale brown at maturity. | ||
Endemic to Tas.; grows on soil and moribund bryophytes in limestone crevices. Known only from the type locality. | ||
