| Thallus subepilithic, thin, continuous to minutely rimose or areolate, matt, pale grey-brown to rather dark grey; prothallus blackish or not apparent. Perithecia semi-immersed to almost superficial, 0.25–0.6 mm diam.; ostiole slightly depressed. Involucrellum thick, black. Exciple c. 25 µm thick, pale brown to blackish. Centrum 0.15–0.3 mm wide. Periphyses 25–40 µm long. Asci 8-spored, 70–100 × 30–40 µm. Ascospores muriform, broadly ellipsoidal, 30–55 × 14–20 (–25) µm, colourless. |  |
