Thallus epilithic, rimose to areolate, matt, ±smooth, pale grey to pale or dark grey-brown, 50–100 µm thick, ecorticate; prothallus black and continuous or not apparent. Perithecia two-thirds immersed to almost completely immersed in the thallus, 0.35–0.65 mm diam.; apex crateriform, pale grey-brown. Involucrellum brownish black to black, contiguous with the exciple above, diverging below. Exciple 18–25 µm thick, medium to dark brown. Centrum 0.22–0.36 mm wide. Periphyses 25–40 µm long. Hymenial algae elongate-cylindrical, 4–12 × 1.5–2.5 µm. Asci 8-spored, 65–90 × 25–30 µm. Ascospores 18–28 × 9–14 µm, colourless to pale yellowish brown. | ||
Known from calcareous and siliceous rocks in rainforest in eastern Qld. Also in Christmas Island. | ||
