| Thallus endolithic, inconspicuous, pale grey. Algae globose, 7–14 mm diam. Prothallus not apparent; basal layer absent. Perithecia almost completely immersed, leaving pits in the limestone following their decay, 0.2–0.4 mm diam.; apex plane to slightly convex; ostiole inconspicuous or in a 25–50 µm depression. Involucrellum apical, lid-like, extending laterally, then sharply downwards, black, occasionally with 3–5 fissures radiating from the ostiole. Exciple 35–45 µm thick, hyaline at the base and sides, brown-black near the apex. Centrum 0.23–0.42 mm wide. Periphyses 30–40 × 1.5–2 µm. Asci c. 78 × 31 µm. Ascospores narrowly to broadly ellipsoidal, 20–32 × 9–15 µm. |  |
