Born at Northampton, England, 20 June 1855 and died at Wilga Private Hospital, Toowoomba, Qld, 22 June 1920.
He arrived in Queensland in February 1879, with excellent credentials, including a parchment certificate of the Privy Council and a divinity certificate; also he had had teaching experience in English schools 1869-78. He taught in Queensland schools 1879-1914; the first appointment was at Allenstown (Rockhampton) and the last at Charleville (1906-14). At the latter town he was headmaster with a staff of six.
