Charles Ashmall Barnard was born at Launceston, Tas, on 20 May 1867; died at 'Coomooboolaroo', 20 km SSW of Duaringa, about 119 km to the west of Rockhampton, Qld, on 24 July 1942.
Charles was the first of a long line of naturalists who were the progeny of George Barnard jnr.
According to Alex George in ABC,
"Collected in Qld on Bloomfield R. 1883, Port Douglas, Mossman R. 1884, Daintree R. 1884. Wrote on birds. Specimens at MEL.
(Specimens from Qld attrib. to C.E. Barnard probably collected by him)."
There are too many collectors with initials 'Barnard, C.' in AVH to resolve a distribution map.
