Educated University of Melbourne. Registered pharmacist 1879. President, Metropolitan Chemists' Association 1915, president, Eastern Suburbs Chemists ca 1920, mayor of Kew from 1920, president, Field Naturalists' Club of Victoria, editor, Victorian Naturalist, 1892-1925.
Was a foundation member of the Field Naturalists' Club of Victoria and edited their journal, The Victorian Naturalist, for 32 years.
