Born at Nambour, Qld, 19 December 1957
Some years previous to 1988 he was described as a horticulturist and nurseryman but in 1988 he described himself as a seed collector and botanical consultant. From 1982 has been the leader of a Eucalyptus Study Group (S.G.A.P.). He is a member of the Aust. Systematic Bot. Soc.
His publications include 'Eucalyptus of the Sunshine Coast' (1983) and 'Eucalyptus of the Central Old Coast' (1986).When this name Eucalyptus
beaniana L. Johnson & K. Hill (1991) was
published in Telopea 4(2) : 1991, the authors wrote-
'The
epithet honours naturalist Anthony Bean of Nambour, whose industrious
investigations in the field have thrown much light on the distribution
of Queensland eucalypts and other plants'.
In 1991
Bean was appointed to the staff of the Queensland National Parks and
Wildlife Service, and was attached to the Northern Region centre
at Townsville.
