Beasley was born in the Goulburn Valley, probably that in Victoria, on 26 August 1878 and died in Queensland on 18 October 1956.
As a young man he paid several visits to Queensland, as well as one to New Zealand, but in 1905 he went to Chinchilla, Qld, and the next year selected land in the area, where he lived until his death. The type of Eucalyptus beasleyi Blakely (1934) was collected by him on his property, Branch Creek, at Burncluith, near Chinchilla.
