Born at Maryborough, Qld, c. 1880 as his age was given as 77 when he died at Killara, a suburb of Sydney, N.S.W., on 22 August 1957.
He graduated from the University of Sydney with a first class pass in economics in 1920, and spent a large part of his life as a mining engineer, being General Manager of Bellambi Coal Co. for a long period. When W.F. Blakely described Eucalyptus bottii he referred to Harold Bott as a friend and companion (on botanical collecting trips) of 14 years standing, this being the period 1913-27.
