Born in England to John and Margaret Campbell. The Campbells were settlers at 'Breadalbane', upper Piper River, Tas.
In 1876, Eliza married Samuel Bowen (c.1841-1883) of 'Tregaron', Cape Portland, and they had at least five children. Eliza collected MEL specimens at 'Tregaron', Cape Portland, 1883-1887. Her husband also collected MEL specimens. In 1939, Eliza died at 'Tregaron' aged 90.
