Broadhurst, Linda M. (fl. 1990s - 2020s)
Linda attended Curtin University (WA) from 1990 to 1998.
She was awarded a PhD from Curtin University, School of Environmental Biology, (WA) in 1999 on the topic:
"Variation and population genetic structure in the Western Australian endemic genus Geleznowia Turcz. (Rutaceae)".
In May 2001 she joined CSIRO in Canberra and remained there until retiring in September 2021.
She was Director of the Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research from July 2016 - May 2021.
Her major research focus for almost 20 years was how to improve the conservation and restoration of native vegetation using both genetic and demographic tools. This included research on both rare and common species in southeastern and western Australia.
Her later interests included improving seed sourcing practices to maximize the evolutionary potential required to meet the challenges of environmental change, restoring lost ecological processes such as dispersal, and ensuring long term population persistence.
She retired from CSIRO in Canberra in 2021 and returned to Western Australia.
