Naval surveyor, captain, slave runner.
In Aust. at various times from 1849. Explored and had steamers on Murray River, Vic/S.A., from 1850.
Led expedition for SA govt on SS Eagle to N Australia 1867;
In north-western WA intermittently 1870-76.
Attributed with collection on Liverpool River, but probably collected by B.T.Gulliver.
