Bill Cane was one of the small band of people who founded the Society for Growing Australian Plants.
Work on a local farm ca 1925-28; rabbit trapping, Little Plain near Valencia Creek; beekeeper; nursery, Maffra 1947-87, developing techniques for striking cuttings and propagating Australian natives by leaf culture; found a new species of Banksia, named Banksia canei.
Medallion, Victorian Beekeepers' Association; winner of many major awards for his honey.
