Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on 14 June 1914, died in Adelaide, South Australia, on 4 January 1978.
After many years in Canada and several Asian countries, he joined the staff of the State Herbarium of South Australia in 1968. He specialised in studies of Lamiaceae, subfam. Prostantheroideae (particularly Prostanthera) and Melaleuca. His Australian collections are in AD, with duplicates distributed as exchange to many herbaria.
