Born at Bute, S.A., on 12 July 1933; died in 1984
A farmer with a keen interest in the native flora, especially acacias, eucalypts, eremophilas and chenopods, and acted as an Hionorary Collector for the South Australian Herbarium.
He was the collector of the holotype of Bassia copleyi Ising and of a species of Grevillea.
Whilst farming he studied for matriculation, and he was a member of the Nature Conservation Society of S.A.
Collected over 5,000 specimens for the State Herbarium of South Australia, including the type specimen of Grevillea parrallelinervis J. Carrick, and of the type of Eucalyptus cyanophylla Brooker (1977)
His son Peter Bruce Copley is also a signifcant plant collector in SA.
