Daley was born at Banana, Qld, on 13 December 1882 and died at Tully, Qld, on 12 October 1963.
The evidence indicates that this was the same Nicholas Daley who was a school teacher at Reid River (where the type material of Eucalyptus brownii was collected) from 12 June 1911 to 8 May 1914 when he resigned. In 1913 he married a school teacher in Townsville, the shopping and social centre for anyone living at Reid River, some 57 km southwards.
