Entomologist, trader, explorer and collector.
1852/60 and 1865/67 3 collecting trips (2 to Australia, 1 to Fiji Islands).
1867-1871 Assistent at Museum Godeffroy, Hamburg,
1869-71 own natural history trade in Hamburg.
1871-75 further collecting trip to Australia ( Queensland, New South Wales*) for Godeffroy and Sohn, Hamburg, revived his natural history trade in St. Pauli near Hamburg after his return.
* Itinerary: departure from Hamburg (July 1871), first collecting around Sydney (Nov 1871-Mar 1872), then around Rockhampton (Mar-Jun 1872), Clermont and Peak Downs (July 1872-Apr 1873), again Rockhampton (May-Nov 1873), around Gayndah (Burnett River)( Dec 1873-Apr 1874), Sydney (May 1874-Feb 1875), arrival in Hamburg (May 1875).
Commemorated in Ervatamiadaemeliana Domin (Apocynac.), Tetraceradaemeliana F. Muell. (Dilleniac.), Cupaniadaemeliana F. Muell. (Sapindac.) and a number of animals (e.g. ant Polyrachis daemeli, fish Serranus daemeli, spider Xysticus daemeli).
His collections are now in AWH, B, BRSL, HBG, MEL, MO, P, W [Index Herbariorum. Collectors A-D].
