Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria |
Nerelie Darbyshire was a watercolourist, describing herself as a farmer’s wife who lived at Condingup east of Esperance from about 1957, the first woman to settle in the area.
Concerned about the disappearance of wildflowers she endeavoured to document them. She exhibited wildflower paintings in solo exhibitions at the Cremorne Gallery in 1972 and earlier and participated in other exhibitions. She had art training - using the letters A.S.T.C. Diploma in Design after her name. (Adelaide Secondary Teachers' College?) She lectured and taught for Adult and Technical Extension Service in colour and design. A watercolour was auctioned in Adelaide in 2010.
