Born in Victoria c.1874, died 1 September 1950,
One of thirteen children, to settlers William Dixon (c.1837-1892) and Annie née Cody (d.1925). The Dixons moved to Qld c.1866 and ran 'Lanark' and then 'Strasburg' stations near Jericho, Qld.
Mary collected MEL specimens (as 'Miss May Dixon') at Jericho, 1894, and Alice River, 1896.
In 1911, Mary married widower Thomas McArdle (c.1863–1927) of 'Swaylands Station'. They did not have any children.
Mary died in 1950 in her 76th year.
