Dureau was born at Melbourne, Vic., on 21 May 1905 and died at Flemington racecourse, Melbourne, on I5 March 1975.
At the time of the collection of the type (1935) he was Manager for Messrs Brown and Dureau Ltd in Perth. He subsequently progressed through the company to the position of Managing Director at the Head Office in Melbourne and subsequently to Chairman of Directors. In 1956 he initiated the company of Messrs Pearls Pty Ltd. for the commencement of the culture pearl industry in Western Australia and became its Managing Director.
He was joint collector of the type of Eucalyptus stoatei Gardn. ( 1936)
