Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria |
Since about 1980 Jean has been recording
and monitoring the sites of terrestrial orchids
found in the ACT and surrounding areas.
As a keen
botanical artist she found the native orchids a
wonderful subject to draw. She also enjoyed
enhancing David Jones' drawings for the Field
Guide to the Orchids of the Australian Capital
Territory, as well as for many of his other
publications.
In 2001, realising there were many
independent orchid enthusiasts in the area, she
established the first ACT e-mail orchid list, with the
aim of sharing information, and organizing feld
trips to explore the orchids.
The orchid
Paraprasophyllum jeaneganiae is named after her.
