Elizabeth Gould was a natural history artist who was born in Ramsgate, England.
After working as a governess, she met and married zoologist John Gould. They travelled to Australia in 1838, where she drew over 600 illustrations tor her husband's publications on the birds of Australia. She returned to England in 1840 and died the following year.
