Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria |
Born 1830 in Leipzig, Leipzig, Saxony, Germany; died near Casino, NSW, September 15, 1913.
Son of Karl Herrmann Knoetzsch,
husband of Mary Catherine Knoetzsch (Jenner nee Tuttle)
Occupations were gold-miner and hotel-keeper. In retirement he 'took up horticulture as a hobby'. He grew 'many a rare plant', and became an acknowledged expert on such matters in the Casino district. His botanical collecting, then, would seem to relate to his retirement period, after about 1903.
He was listed as a publican at Boonoo Boonoo, near Tenterfield, 1876-1885, and later near Casino (Richmond River), where he died.
