Born at Brisbane, Qld, on 3 July 1884 and died at Kingaroy, QId, on 18 November 1951.
His theological training was at St Francis College, Brisbane, and he was made a deacon in 1910. In his early days he was a member of the Bush Brothers and a Chaplain at an Aboriginal Mission. He was subsequently in charge of several parishes in Queensland, and in his later years was Canon of the Cathedral at Townsville, Rural Dean of Wide Bay and Burnett District and Canon of St Paul’s, Maryborough. In 1938 he was the Church of England minister at Boonah. Michael had a life-long interest in the flora of Queensland and collected extensively; for example, his specimen of Eucalyptus michaeliana, secured in 1937, named in his honour, was No. 2662.
