Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria |
Born in Brisbane in 1967.
In his own words:
"There are a few botanists called Andrew Mitchell.
"I am Andrew C. Mitchell and for most of my career have been a consulting Botanist. In the old days, I would send plant specimens to the Queensland Herbarium for identification, and they kept a number of specimens. North Queensland and Cape York Peninsula is where I have collected the most plants. I also use iNaturalist and have added photos of more than 1800 species. These photos and the data points they attach to is my main contribution to the next generation of Botanists.
"Recently [c.2022] I was at the CSIRO in Canberra working on the WeedScan project, which uses artificial intelligence to identify weeds so that new and emerging weeds can be reported to the authorities. So my name is also associated with some of the activities at the Australian National Herbarium [CANB]."

At this stage it appears as if most the specimens for 'this' Andrew Mitchell are entered in AVH as 'Mitchell, A.', without a second initial, making it difficult to separate them with any certanty from other Andrew Mitchells.
