Botanical artist.
Elaine lives and works in her studio at Wildes Meadow in the Southern Highlands of NSW. She spent many years as an artist in the greeting card industry before becoming interested in Botanical Art which quickly became her passion.
Elaine has exhibited annually in Botanica at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney since 1999 and was awarded a Gold Medal at the Royal Horticultural Society, London in 2003.
Her work is included in the Hunt Institute Pittsburgh, The Botanic Gardens Trust Sydney, The Alisa and Isaac M Sutton and Hawkesbury Regional Gallery collections.
Original works are created from life with the use of watercolour and/or graphite on Arches smooth watercolour paper. The combination of watercolour and graphite within a study is often used to enhance the character of a subject. This method may also depict various stages of a plant’s development to illustrate seed pods, ageing flowers or drying leaves. This combination can add additional interest and dimension to the finished artwork.
