Nicolle, Dean (1974 - )

Nicolle was born in Adelade, South Australia, and had an interest in eucalypts from his high school days. He completed his degree at Adelaide University and went on to do his PhD on a group of southern Australian mallees at Flinders University, South Australia, in 2008.

With strong support from his father, he set up the Currency Creek Arboretum growing over 900 taxa of eucalypts. Most of the eucalypts in the plantation were grown from seed actually collected by Nicolle in the wild.

He started publishing on eucalypts in the scientific literature in 1995, and has self-published reference books on Eucalypts of South Australia and Eucalypts of Victoria and Tasmania as field guides using his own photographs.

He is self-employed as a consultant in the fields of botany, arboriculture and ecology.
