Born in UK in 1942; moved to Australia in 1969.
Worked as a tutor in botany at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, during the 1970s. Collected plants in Australia and New Zealand. Employed to undertake data entry of specimen records from the Australian National Herbarium in Canberra from 2001 to 2008, particularly during the "Australia's Virtual Herbarium" (now the Australasian Virtual Herbarium) project
In retirement, compiling and publishing a detailed biography of the botanist/explorer Allan Cunningham in collaboration with her husband, A.E.Orchard.
