Born at Ballina, N.S.W., on 27 March 1884 and died at Dubbo, N.S.W., on 18 December 1972.
Prior to his parents moving to Armidale and later to Inverell, it is understood that his father owned a sugar-cane plantation. Peacocke was appointed to the Forest Service of New South Wales at Armidale on 28 October 1910, later being a Forest Guard at Inverell from 16 September 1913 and promoted to Forester at the same centre on 1 September 1925. On 11 November the same year he transferred to the Lands Department, as C. P. Inspector at Dubbo, later being promoted to Land Inspector in 1939 and remaining in that position until he retired either at the end of 1947 or early 1948.
Honoured in the name Eucalyptus peacockeana Maiden, he was also collector of the type.
