Born in 1952.
Ann Prescott has been interested in
drawing, writing and teaching about
flowers for many years.
After
graduating with an Honours degree
in Botany from the University of
Adelaide, she worked as a plant
ecology consultant, as a lecturer,
with a firm of landscape architects,
and as a botanist in the State
Herbarium.
She has
been a scientific officer with the
South Australian National Parks and
Wildlife Service and the Department
of Environment and Planning.
Ann did illustrations for Judy West's thesis and publications on genus Dodonaea.
She co-authored (with Julianne Venning ) the Aizoaceae for volume 4 of the Flora of Australia in 1984, including publication of two new species of Trianthema in that work.
She was recognised in the 2019 Australia Day Honour's List.
She is best known for her milestone publication 'It's Blue with Five Petals' published in 1988.
Ann has made a significant contribution to the South Australia's environment through her skills as an author, artist, trainer, conservation advisor and generous mentor.
