Born 1925, Artarmon (Sydney) NSW. Died at Port Macquarie, NSW, on 8 February 2009.
Became interested in entomology when young. Post-WWII transferred interest to botany while studying for an Agricultural Science degree at University of New England. Subsequently lived in Sydney and botanised around Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
1956 joined CSIRO Division of Land Research and Regional Survey as a botanical collector on Papua and New Guinea land surveys. Collected there 1956-1972, i.e. until PNG independence.
Transferred to CSIRO PI Herbarium as Assistant Curator to Nancy Burbidge.
Then became CSIRO Plant Introduction and Quarantine Officer, based at PI.
1986 retired from CSIRO.
1990 left Canberra, moved to Port Macquarie NSW.
