He currently the Executive Director and CEO of Chesapeake Natives which is the only local ecotype nursery and produces hundreds of plant species for the purpose of sustaining the native flora and fauna of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
He has undertaken field-work and survey work in tropical and temperate Australia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Museum studies in Hawaii, mainland USA, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Dr. Puttock has led many outreach programs for greater community awareness of the consequences of human interruption to the natural environment.
Special interests:
- As a taxonomist he has interests in the Rubiaceae and Asteraceae flowering plant families as well as Pteridophyta (ferns) and Rhodophyta (red algae).
- Postcards of Ceylon (he owned over 1500 pre-1920s antiquarian picture postcards of Ceylon.)
- He studied mangroves while working at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
