Botanical and natural history illustrator.
Christine has been a designer & illustrator since studying Graphic Design at TAFE (Newcastle and Hornsby) in 1994. After a long stint working in design agencies in Sydney and NZ in print and online, she decided to specialise in creating for the environmental sector.
She completed the Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (BNHI) in 2006. She then completed a Honours year graduating with a First Class Honours and a University and Faculty Medal (Design). In 2007 she also completed a Plant Science Internship at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney.
Since graduating she has been teaching others the skills of recording the natural environment. Initially this was as a tutor/lecturer in the Natural History Illustration degree at the University of Newcastle. In this role she taught Scientific Illustration and Field Studies subjects. Later she has been concentrating her teaching in the community sector, fostering among her students an appreciation of the environment aided by the careful observation required in the creation of artworks.
She often works in conjunction with Local Councils, Landcare groups, community groups, schools, community and TAFE colleges, National Parks and Wildlife NSW, TAFE, Botanic Gardens,Herbaria and Art Galleries.
