Born in Australia on 18 March 1877 and died, also in Australia, on 8 January 1958.
He spent his working career with the forest service of New South Wales, joining it in July 1902 and becoming Assistant Forester, Casino, in 1915. In 1920 he was promoted to District Forester and in 1938 to Inspector and District Forester, Casino. He retired about 1942. He was considered to have a first-class knowledge of the north coast forests of the State
