Born in England to an artist, James Wimston, and Ann née Brickwell. In c.1858, Eliza married James Slatter, in Christchurch, Middlesex, and they had two children. The Slatters migrated to Qld where Eliza's husband was a builder and contractor at Copperfield, and a member of the Qld Acclimatisation Society.
Eliza collected MEL specimens at Copperfield, near Clermont, 1869-1871.
In 1881, Eliza's husband was declared insolvent.
In 1895, Eliza died at Clermont of dysentery aged 66.
