Born in 1947 in NSW;
Ben Wallace is a botanist with a PhD from the Botany Department of the University of New England, his doctoral dissertation was on the flora and ecology of Australian epiphytes.
Ben taught industrial arts for five years then was the Horticultural Botanist at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney (1982-1990), travelling to many Australian as well as overseas locations including Chile, Costa Rica, PNG, China, Borneo, Thailand, New Caledonia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand.
From 1991 to 2000 he was Curator of the Living Collections at the Australian National Botanic Gardens, Canberra, and member of the Centre for Plant Biodiversity Research.
Currently he is a consultant in botany and horticulture, and an ecotour operator, to China, Southeast Asia and Tasmania.
