Born at Warrnambool, Vic., on 25 June 1888 and was killed in action on 29 September 1918 when serving overseas with the A.l.F.
He joined the teaching service of Western Australia in 1908 and taught at a number of one-teacher schools until 1916, when he was granted leave by the Department to enlist in the A.I.F. When he collected the type of Eucalyptus mundijongensis Wallace was teaching at Dwellingup, but his father, S. Wallace, was teaching at Mundijong.
