Born in NSW, c.1831; died at Dallinga, NSW, 22 November 1892.
One of thirteen children, to Obed West (c.1807-1891), of 'Barcom Glen', near Woolloomoolloo, and Jane Margaret née Lindsey (c.1810-1875). In 1851, Mary married James Fowler Wilcox (1823-1881), a naturalist and settler, and they had thirteen children. The family acquired land at Dallinga, South Grafton in 1857.
Mary collected MEL specimens at South Grafton, 1884, 1889.
Her husband also collected MEL specimens.
In 1892, Mary died at Dallinga, aged 60.
Two letters from Mary to Mueller survive.
