Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria |
Poh was born in Singapore in 1938.
She came to study at the University of New England where she graduated with Honours in Botany.
She became an Australian Citizen in 1965.
Poh married David Woodland, lecturer in zoology at UNE.
She completed her MSc with Nallamilli Prakash and worked on the embryology of Eupomatia bennettii and E. laurina in the Glenda L Davis laboratory at the University of New England in early to mid 1960s.
Poh was a UNE Botany Tutor and Dean's assistant while researching for her Master's degree.
In 1987 she was Armidale's Bicentennial and the Bicentenary Travelling Exhibition coordinator.
Later she was the Armidale City and the Armidale Dumaresq councils' Public Relations Officer (1989-2012); as a volunteer she coordinated the 'Armidale 150 years' and 'Wollomombi between two bridges' publications for Council to ensure local history was preserved.
In 2015 she joined the Pedal Board (early child development) as she strongly believes in the importance of early learning for all children. Poh continues to be involved with activities for the young and old in our community.
She and her husband David have two daughters and three granddaughters, and they all call Armidale home.
