Leptospermum squarrosum family MYRTACEAE
(Syn. L. persiciflorum)
Erect shrub to 2.5 m high by 1.5 m across. Leaves are lanceolate, to 1.5 cm. Pale to deep pink flowers, on old wood, are profuse in autumn and winter.
Distribution: NSW.
Propagation From seed or cuttings. Cuttings should be used to preserve colour forms.
Cultivation See note on genus. Very hardy plant and a good off-season flowerer. Care should be taken when pruning, as heavy cutting will reduce the following year's flowers. Flowers well in the subtropics.
- Frost-hardy. (Plants given an this rating will tolerate frosts to -7°C in conditions of normal rainfall.)
- May be used as features.
- Resistant to salt spray.
