Lichenised school bus
Photographer: Katrina Syme
This long-abandoned bus was south-west of Jerramungup, at the foot of the eastern edge of the Stirling Range in southern western Australia. The majority of the lichen cover is by the genus Xanthoparmelia. You can see a close view of several thalli on the lower right. Apart from growing on the metal work this lichen also grew on glass and on a plastic tail light cover (upper right).
