Born in Singleton, NSW, the seventh of nine children, to settlers Theophilus Bournet Foot (c.1811-1896) and Ellen née Nesbit (c.1819-1908).
In 1862, the family moved to Qld and ran 'Moravia Downs', and then 'Warrinilla Station'. In 1882, Ellen married Frederick Walter Biddulph (1855-1898) of 'Mount Playfair Station', and they had seven children.
Ellen collected MEL specimens at 'Cungelella Station', Nogoa, Nogoa River, and Springsure, 1890.
Ellen's sister HARRIETTE SOPHIA BIDDULPH, nieces ALICE CAROLINE BIDDULPH and FLORENCE FRANCES BIDDULPH, and sister-in-law ADA FOOT also collected MEL specimens.
In 1917, Ellen died in the Springsure Hospital after a month's illness at the age of 62.
