Tony was a statistician by profession, but was interested in photography since
his earhy teens. Much of his spare time was spent
photographing native plants and aninmals. More
recently he had appreciated the diversity of native
orchids, capturing their beauty and variety.
He was
the principal photographer for the Field Guide to
the Orchids of the Australian Capital Territory.
From the beginning, he was the foremost
contributor to the ACT Orchid e-mail list initiated by Jean Egan, sharing his orchid
photographs.
In the 1960s he was a pioneering rock-climber in the ACT region, naming Booroomba Rocks.
His death in 2018 was a loss to the
photographic and orchid world.
