Automated Web Queries (Internet)
The ANBG-CPBR World Wide Web (www) server has been continually extended to provide information pages from the Centre as a public research resource and for education and environmental decision-making. Currently, the www servers provide access to textual and graphic information about the Centre and its programs, and information from the Centre's databases. Database access includes partial views of records from the ANBG living collections, the plant name, herbarium and image databases and a range of digitised images from the photograph collection. The www also provides connection to information produced by other botanical and environmental institutions and links have been made to these resources as they have been published on the Internet.

2008 Report
Integration of the living collection and herbarium databases has enabled a high level of cross-referencing when delivering outputs from queries.
The implementation of REST-style interfaces has enabled Google and other search engines to penetrate the image database and deliver clients over 5,000 plant images every day.
Implemented Google map interface to ANHSIR queries, allowing maps to be generated of location sites for herbarium collections. |
