| Basal squamules persistent, 3–5 mm long, 1–2 mm diam., irregularly lobed or incised, with crenate or sinuate margins, esorediate. Podetia growing from basal squamules, 1–3 cm tall, simple, esorediate, warted-corticate then areolate at base, becoming ecorticate with flattened tiny squamules or corticate granules on upper part of podetia and in interior of scyphi; scyphi broad, to 8 mm diam. Apothecia uncommon, marginal on scyphi, conspicuous, 1–5 mm diam., convex, dark brown. CHEMISTRY: K-, KC-, P+ red. Fumarprotocetraric (major) and protocetraric (trace) acids. | ||
| Occurs in N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas., and also on Macquarie Is.; cosmopolitan.; grows on soil among moss or over rocks. | ||
